We’ve evaluated hundreds of crops and varieties over the years. Here’s what we’ve found works best.
Whole Plants
These crops and varieties can be grown to full maturity and pair well with our Grow Block Bundle.
- Lettuce including Summercrisp, Leaf Lettuce, Oak Leaf, Salinova™, Tango, Lollo Rossa
- Herbs including Basil, Parsley, Dill, Cilantro, Chives, Mint, Sage, Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme (all types)
- Tomatoes including cherry types (look for dwarf varieties that grow under 18 inches)
- Peppers, including mini bell types (look for dwarf varieties that grow under 18 inches)
- Peas including edible pod types (look for dwarf varieties that grow under 18 inches)
- Flowers including mini zinnias, dwarf impatiens, compact-type pansies, daddy-type petunias, wave-type petunias, compact coleus and gem-type marigolds
- Edible Medicinal Greens including dandelion, yarrow, catnip and sage
Trayed Greens
These crops and varieties can be grown to micro or baby stage and pair well with our Grow Mats.

Ensure the mature plant will fit in your Les Verts indoor garden
You’ll want to ensure that your plants don’t exceed 45 cm (18 inches) in height when fully grown. You should also consider the amount of growing space the plant will take when mature. Some crops (like melons) will want to spread out, so keep that in mind when planning your production.
Understand the growth cycle
Are you growing from seed, from a cutting or from root stock? The way your favorite plants begin their growth can influence the ideal growing medium, the space they’ll require, and how long it will take for them to reach maturity. Will your plants require transplanting and pollination? Be sure to factor these horticultural practices into your plan and contact us for advice on transplants and pollination.
