Spring planting for your outdoor garden
Our gardens can be used to successfully and efficiently start plants indoors to later plant outdoors, optimizing seedling growth and eliminating the need for a greenhouse.
Use your indoor garden for 1-2 springtime transplant cycles (depending on plant species) and grow any of the following crops:
Fruiting Vegetables
A wide range of tomatoes and peppers.
Herbs
Cilantro, parsley, basil, thyme, rosemary, sage, dill and many others.
Lettuces
Romaine, butterhead, crisphead, gem and a wide range of other leafy greens.
Flowers
Marigolds, zinnias, petunias, coleus, and larger seed varieties.
Vines
Cucumber, zucchini, squash, gourdes and a wide range of other melon crops.
Fruiting Crops
Strawberries.
Be sure to follow the instructions on your seed packaging to determine when to start your crops for outdoor growing.
The flexibility to grow your favourites!
Have a favourite plant you want to try in your Les Verts indoor garden?
With adjustable shelving and our a la carte growing media options, feel free to experiment!
Here are a few tips and tricks to help guide your decisions and planting techniques:
Will the mature plant fit in your Terrace Pro?
Though the top tier can be adjusted, you’ll want to ensure that mature plants don’t exceed 45 cm (18 in) in height when fully grown. You should also consider the amount of growing space the plant will take when mature. Some crops (like melons) will want to spread out, so keep that in mind when planning your production.
Understand the growth cycle
Are you growing from seed, from a cutting or from root stock? How your favourite plants start may dictate which growing media will work best, how much room your plants will need and the time it will take them to mature. Will your plants require transplanting and pollination? Be sure to factor these horticultural practices into your plan. Or contact us for advice on transplants and pollination.
